Ten years ago, designer Patrick Bisson created a two-units masterpiece nestled under the tall trees of Rosemont, Montréal. As the upper PH unit hits the resale market, I invited him to step back into the light to share with me details of his creation.

An open invitation
The first and most striking feature is the natural light that is ever changing and which creates most of the intrigue.

Windows and openings are not just imposed, but rather an invitation for the sun to choose where and when it wants to shine in, creating very distinctive rays and colors throughout the day.

Le “Gris Souris”
In that same idea, the color grey that Patrick chose for some of the finishes reacts very differently from different angles and lighting. This quantum color he calls “mouse grey” sometimes looks blue-ish or brightens up to an almost full white.

Total design approach
Whether Patrick Bisson and his studio MULTIPLE start the work on a library, an museum exhibit or a residential project, they perform what they call total design, which is exactly what it sounds like. Inside this particular unit, everything from cabinetry to the concealed appliances was well thought.

Another very interesting detail is how the rail guard from this central staircase seems to merge with the ceiling, but in fact, never touches.

A bouquet of trees
Mature trees surrounding the project indeed adds to the mystery and the sentiment of floatation. Terraces on both sides allow dwellers to chase the perfect sun, while huge windows displaying very tight foliage forms a cocoon around the living area.

So close in fact, that the trees look like they want to come in for tea!

After 1o years, the ageless design still intrigues and will grow on whoever steps inside.
